TeraTerm is perfect for simple stuff like ASCII-only serial terminal, but if you have to send several binary values starting around the ranges of 0-255? What will you use?
This is where the RealTerm Latest Version comes in handy. It is uniquely designed to send binary hard-to-type data. You can “download RealTerm Latest Version” for Windows 7, Windows 8, 10 and Windows XP and for Vista as well, from the link at the end of this article.
HOW DO YOU SET UP A SERIAL PORT?
On opening RealTerm, a blank window (just like the one below) will be displayed. The data to send will be typed at the top half; this is also where the received data will be displayed. The bottom half contains a split number of the tab where you can make changes to the settings.
Without wasting much time, let’s get connected. To start, click on the “Port” tab. A drop-down will appear, choose the number of your COM port numbers.
Also, make sure you set the baud rate as well as other settings correctly. Youcan type the “baud rate” manually or select from the drop down (it’s all up to you)
After adjusting all the settings, click “open” two times to close and open the port (the “Change” button can only work after you’ve connected with the COM port)
Well, that’s all about that. To send data, you can type anything either above and anything the terminal receive will as well pop up there.
HOW DO I SEND SEQUENCES OF VALUES?
What stands it out among other terminal programs is that it can send long term query of binary, decimal or hexadecimal values. To use this function, navigate to the “Send” tab. Click into one of the two boxes, and you find a box next to “send number.”
You will enter the value of your number sequence, and separates each by a space; they can be the decimal value from ranges of 0-25.
They can as well be a hexadecimal number prefixed with “0x” or an “S.” Once you have tried your string out, click on “send number” and here you go! You must have been thinking of why we need this.
For Example:
Okay, for example, your serial seven segment displays hooks up with an FDI basis connected to your PC. What you need to do is just type in your terminal, and you’ll have a segment display controlled. How about if you want to keep the screen dimmed? Just send 123 and 0 sequential bytes.
You can also use RealTerm to unlock FRP or “RealTerm bypass” Google account from Android devices. Samsung Galaxy, LG, Huawei, Alcatel, Sony Xperia and other Android devices.
But, is it possible especially with the series of keyboard keys keyboard? You will need an ASCII table to tie binary value into a character. This can be done by pressing DEL for 127 and CTRL+SHIFT+2 (^@) for 0…also you can use the “Send” tab in RealTerm!
HOW DO I ADJUST THE DISPLAY?
Just as we know that you can use the latest version of RealTerm 2.0.0.70 for sending literal binary value, it doesn’t end here; it can also be used to display the literal binary value. Check out the ”Display” tab, on the “Display As” section, and you’ll find various selections of a terminal display to choose from.
The data can be presented as typical ASCII characters, hex values or any other display type. The latest version of RealTermis the best choice for better terminal usage. You can use it anytime you want to send a particular byte. But as for not-so-complex applications, we’ll choose TeraTerm as our go-to emulator.
